New bunker management tool launched

Tool is designed to analyze the full impact of delays and schedule changes on bunker consumption.

German software solutions provider Softship has launched a series of additions to its vessel scheduling software VOYCES, including a new bunker management tool.

The developer's new VOYCES Pro and VOYCES Pro Add-ons are said to deliver a range of added-value services, with the bunker management service described as being "a revolutionary facility allowing an analysis of the full impact on bunker consumption caused by vessel delays and schedule changes".

Commenting on the launch of the new packaged applications, Softship's executive director, Thomas Wolff said: "We always listen to our customers and this new package has been developed to meet real concerns and issues that are currently being voiced in the marketplace. Bunker costs, for example, represent a very significant slice of a carrier's costs and our customers wanted a tool which would allow them to see, immediately, the impact on bunker consumption for a variety of schedule change scenarios. VOYCES Pro and VOYCES Pro Add-ons enables this alongside a range of other new and topical tools."

Wolff added: "These new software applications are currently being rolled out to operators in Europe and the US and I am pleased to report that these carriers are delighted with the functionality and the value it is bringing to their business.”

Additional features include:

Vessel reporting

Onboard software to translate and transmit standard vessel reports directly to shore-side applications allowing operators to update and amend schedules accordingly.

Capacity planning

This links with Softship's booking software to give operators an at-a-glance view of load factors and capacity availability for an entire voyage.

Seamap

The ability to map and compare real AIS positions of vessels alongside their scheduled position and highlight differences.

Statement of facts

Reporting of port call events, confirmation of cargo loaded/discharged and bunkers received. All corresponding port costs are automatically calculated.
