Rotterdam-based MCE Marine Surveyors B.V. is recruiting a bunker surveyor as part of an effort to expand its team, according to a job posting published on LinkedIn.
The marine survey specialist says the role has arisen due to growing demand for its services. The position involves conducting bunker quantity surveys (BQS) on board vessels, carrying out on-site measurements and quantity calculations of marine fuels delivered to ships.
The succesful applicant is required to hold at least a secondary vocational qualification (MBO) or a higher professional education (HBO) degree, with a background from an institution such as a maritime and transport college cited as an example. A liquid bulk surveyor certificate is listed as a preference, as is prior experience in a bunker surveyor role. Recent work experience with quality inspections and within the maritime or transport sector is described as advantageous but not essential.
Candidates are also expected to possess strong numeracy skills, a working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, and a good command of both Dutch and English. A Category B driving licence is required, along with a willingness to travel internationally.
The nature of the work, MCE Marine Surveyors notes, includes working outside regular office hours and at weekends.
The company is offering a full-time, fixed-term contract. The benefits package includes a company car, laptop and mobile phone, as well as various expense allowances and 25 days of annual leave. Holiday pay is listed among the secondary employment benefits.
MCE Marine Surveyors describes its working environment as informal and says its remuneration package is competitive.
