PetroChina International, the international trading arm of PetroChina Company Ltd, is recruiting a bunker sales manager to expand its marine fuels business across the Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp (ARA) region and wider European market, according to a job listing posted on 8 August.

The role is based preferably in Rotterdam, with London listed as an alternative, and will report directly to the CEO for the Netherlands, with a secondary reporting line into the heavies trading team.

PetroChina International notes that it already has an established operating platform, physical supply capability and trading infrastructure in place across the ARA region and is seeking to grow its commercial and physical presence. The hire is claimed to represent “a rare opportunity to join a business with the foundations built and the ambition to grow”.

The selected applicant will be tasked with developing bunker sales activity across the ARA market, building relationships with shipowners, operators, charterers, traders, brokers and suppliers, and trading marine fuels spanning conventional grades — including very low-sulphur fuel oil (VLSFO), high-sulphur fuel oil (HSFO) and marine gas oil (MGO) — as well as alternative fuels such as LNG, methanol and biofuels.

Candidates are expected to have proven experience in bunker sales, trading or physical supply — ideally within the ARA market — along with an established network of counterparties and familiarity with bunker market compliance and regulatory requirements. Dutch language skills are described as advantageous but not essential. The role is full-time and office-based five days per week, with some travel required.

PetroChina International, founded in 2002 and headquartered in Beijing, operates trading and operational hubs in Houston, London and Singapore. It is a subsidiary of PetroChina Company Ltd, the publicly listed arm of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC).
