SGMF to hold board meeting this week

Society For Gas as a Marine Fuel (SGMF) is due to hold a board meeting in Paris on Thursday.

The Society For Gas as a Marine Fuel (SGMF) is due to hold its annual board meeting this week.

The event is scheduled to be held on Thursday, May 15, between 9:30 am and 1:30 pm at the following address below.

Le Meridien Etoile,
81 Boulevard Gouvion Saint-Cyr,
75017 Paris,
France.

Established a year ago by the Society of International Gas Tanker and Terminal Operators (SIGTTO), the purpose of SGMF is to promote safety and industry best practice in the use of LNG as a marine fuel.

In order to fulfill this mission, SGMF says it will:

- Proactively promote safe and responsible operations for both LNG-fuelled vessels and LNG bunker supply logistics.

- Sustain a learning environment by sharing lessons learned.

- Promote training and development of all within the industry.

- Foster mutually beneficial relationships with regulatory authorities and other stakeholders.

- Conduct its business with professionalism and integrity.

SGMF held its first technical committee meeting in Houston on Tuesday, March 18, under the chairmanship of Shell’s Andy Alderson. A pre-inaugural meeting of the 10-strong team was held in December.

At the top of the list was the development of safety guidelines, which would explain the properties and handling requirements for LNG as bunkers. SGMF says it aims to produce a publication that will act as a reference point on the subject.
