Total appoints Order of Merit winner as MD


Experienced professional is named managing director of Total Marine Fuels.



Oil major Total Marine Fuels has appointed Anna Whitehouse [pictured] as its new managing director.

Whitehouse, who will begin her new role from next week, takes over from Christophe Girardot, who was managing director for four years.

Whitehouse is a chemical engineer who has spent over 20 years working for Total's lubricants and retail businesses in the Asia region.

As president and managing director of Total-Philippines, Whitehouse was given the rank of Knight (Chevalier) in the French National Order of Merit (Ordre National du Mérite), in June 2009.

The National Order of Merit is the second highest French national order, next to the Order of the Legion of Honor (Ordre de la Légion d’Honneur). An Order of Chivalry awarded by the President of France, it was created by General Charles de Gaulle on December 3, 1963. The National Order of Merit is conferred on men and women, French nationals and foreigners, for distinguished achievements in their fields.
