Singapore 380-cst sales overtake 2008 total

Accumulated 380-cst sales for Singapore's best-selling grade surpass last year's total with one month to spare.

Sales of 380-centistoke (cst) in Singapore surpassed last year's record with one month to spare as the port's largest-selling bunker grade reached an accumulated total of 25,965,400 tonnes in November, beating last year's total of 25,941.9 tonnes, according to data released by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).

Sales of 380-cst actually declined by 238.200 tonnes last month compared to October 2009, reaching to 2,224,600 tonnes. But in a comparison with November 2008, sales volumes were 108,200 tonnes higher.

Overall sales volumes for all grades in Singapore droped by 239,500 tonnes, or 7.6 percent, in November, compared to the previous month but were 2,900 tonnes higher year-on-year.

Meanwhile sales of 500-cst - the second-best selling product in Singapore - were lower in November compared with the previous month, dropping by 4,500 tonnes to 339,400 tonnes. The figure was also lower than in November 2008, when 417.1 tonnes were sold.

Distillate sales also fell last month with Marine Gas Oil (MGO) levels falling 22,500 tonne to 114,300 tonnes - the lowest this year and the second lowest recorded over the past two years.

Sales of Marine diesel oil (MDO) dropped by 300 tonnes last month to just 800 tonnes - the same figure sold in November 2008.

Accumulated bunker sales in Singapore in 2009 have now reached 33,205,300 tonnes, 1,003,200 tonnes higher than the figure achieved at the end of the same month last year.

Sales at the world's largest bunker port are still therefore expected to break through the 35 million tonne barrier for the first time next month despite last month's sales dip.

Below are tables of bunker sales in Singapore for each fuel grade in 2009 and 2008 respectively with accumulated totals in the bottom row.
