Minerva Bunkering has posted a vacancy for a Sales Manager – Americas, based in the New York metropolitan area, as the company looks to grow its commercial footprint across North and South American bunkering markets.
The role, advertised on LinkedIn, is described as a front-line commercial position that will sit within Minerva’s Americas team. According to the job posting, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing the full sales cycle – from handling inbound fuel inquiries and preparing quotes to negotiating deals and overseeing handoffs to operations teams.
The position carries an annual base salary range of $100,000 to $160,000.
Minerva Bunkering, which operates across a number of key major bunkering locations globally, says the role will involve managing and growing a portfolio of shipowner, operator and charterer accounts, while simultaneously developing new business across ports and trade lanes in both North and South America. The sales manager will work alongside the company’s 24/7 trading desk, as well as its operations, credit and compliance teams.
The company is seeking candidates with experience in marine fuels, bunkering, commodities trading or a related field, with a background in sales, trading or broking. A working knowledge of fuel specifications – including high-sulphur fuel oil (HSFO), low-sulphur fuel oil (LSFO) and marine gas oil (MGO) – is listed as a requirement, along with familiarity with bunker ports and shipping routes across the Americas.
An established network of contacts among shipowners, vessel operators, charterers and brokers is described as “highly valued”. Fluency in English is required, with proficiency in Spanish or Portuguese listed as a plus. Candidates should also be prepared to travel for client meetings, port visits and industry conferences.
The posting also asks that applicants demonstrate awareness of regulatory and environmental developments affecting the marine fuels sector, including the International Maritime Organization’s decarbonisation roadmap and the evolving role of biofuels and alternative fuels in customer purchasing decisions.
