Sunoco LP is recruiting a bunker trader to be based at its office in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania, as the energy infrastructure and fuel distribution partnership looks to expand its presence in the marine fuels sector.

The role, advertised on LinkedIn, is described as a front-line commercial trading position responsible for driving profitability and expanding Sunoco LP's bunker business. According to the job listing, the successful candidate will own the full trade lifecycle — from customer engagement through to execution — while contributing to commercial strategy and supporting growth initiatives.

The bunker trader role will involve managing spot and contract trading activity, executing bunker transactions end-to-end, handling daily market pricing and commercial negotiations, and monitoring trade exposures including credit limits and margin risk. Job requirements will also include partnering with commercial, operations, credit, and finance teams.

Candidates are required to hold a bachelor's degree in finance, business, engineering, maritime studies or a related discipline, along with a minimum of two years of experience in bunker trading or the marine fuels commercial sector. Familiarity with marine fuel specifications, port operations, and market index pricing mechanisms is also listed as a requirement, as is proficiency in maritime intelligence tools.

The position requires the ability to travel between 50% and 75% of the time, with overnight stays required.

Sunoco LP currently operates as a physical supplier of marine fuels across a range of locations including Houston, Port Canaveral, Tampa, Port Everglades, Miami, Jamaica, St. Croix, Barbados, and Guyana. The firm's midstream operations include a pipeline network of approximately 14,000 miles and more than 160 terminals. Its fuel distribution operations distribute more than 15 billion gallons annually to retail locations, as well as independent dealers and commercial customers.
