OW Bunker launches supply operations in Sweden

Leading bunker player reveals that it has begun supplying in Gothenburg and other key ports.

OW Bunker, one of the world’s leading suppliers and traders of marine fuel, has today announced that it has commenced physical supply operations in Gothenburg and other key ports in Sweden. Manager Lenah Soldan will head up the new operation.

"The move is part of the company’s controlled growth strategy, expanding and developing its presence in key locations and providing its customers with quality products and services, when and where they need them," the company said in a statement.

From the end of July 2009, OW Bunker will provide product deliveries in Gothenburg and other west coast ports, as well as ports in southern Sweden, including Helsingborg and Malmö.

OW Bunker will supply 180cst and 380cst grades of quality bunker fuel oil, including 1.0% and 1.5% low sulphur fuel oil, marine diesel oil (MDO) and marine gasoil (MGO). The company will utilize a number of bunker barges and tank trucks in the region to ensure the speedy deliver of all products demanded by the company's customers.

OW Bunker will also provide an offshore service out of Gothenburg, a market that has seen exponential growth and where the company has a real in-depth knowledge.

Providing physical supplies at sea requires specific expertise, and is a growing market as vessels such as merchant ships and tankers cannot afford the time to refuel in port, particularly in the current economic climate where efficiencies with the supply chain have to be maximized.

Commenting on the new announcement, Morten Skou, Executive Vice President, OW Bunker, said:

“Developing our presence and service offering in Sweden is an example of our ambitious plans to expand the business, and consolidate OW Bunker’s position as one of the world’s leading independent bunker suppliers. Despite tough economic conditions and a consolidating market, we will continue to focus on growth and putting our customers first, by providing them with quality products and services when and where they need them.

"Our focus on the offshore market is a good example of this, where it requires real expertise to provide bunkers while at sea, and is wholly necessary for many customers who are under increasing pressure to deliver goods faster and cannot afford the time its takes to deviate from their routes.”
