Singapore’s marine fuels sector should keep fuel availability, logistics planning and crisis readiness in focus, according to remarks shared at Marine Fuels Forum 2026.

Sheen Mao Choong, vice chair of the Singapore Shipping Association (SSA) Marine Fuels Committee, participated in the forum at the invitation of the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).

Choong addressed energy security, fuel availability and disruption planning during his presentation.

He emphasised that “availability should never be taken for granted,” adding that resilience is not limited to access to fuels but also encompasses logistics planning, disruption management, and longer-term impact assessment.

Choong also noted that recent disruption had sharpened industry awareness, observing that they “have forced us to reflect on areas we were previously less aware of”.

The SSA stated that the remarks highlighted the committee’s collaboration with the MPA on standards, manpower, and infrastructure readiness.

Choong also stressed the value of working across the sector: “When we gather together, we are able to see different perspectives and come up with more creative solutions.”

The association also congratulated member companies recognised with awards at the Marine Fuels Forum 2026.
