Copenhagen-based Global Fuel Supply has acquired its first bunker tanker as the company transitions from chartering vessels to becoming a ship-owning operator, LNG/fuel oil trader Alex Zoupanos said in a LinkedIn post on 19 December.

The vessel, which according to an image accompanying the announcement would appear to be the Malta-flagged oil products tanker Atticus, is set to be renamed MV Blue Alliance, Zoupanos confirmed.

Zoupanos said the acquisition will enhance its operational control and strengthen its ability to deliver bunkering services, particularly along the Atlantic coast of Africa.

"Owning our own asset — soon to be renamed MV Blue Alliance — enhances our operational control and strengthens our ability to deliver high-quality bunkering services, especially across West Africa," Zoupanos stated.

He added that the company is now better positioned to support partners and customers with reliability, transparency, and excellence.

The acquisition follows months of work involving strategic collaboration across the company's team, Zoupanos noted.

Built in 2008, the Atticus is 115 metres long with a gross tonnage of 4,599. According to recent ship-tracking data, the tanker has been active in Fujairah.
