Cockett Marine Oil names new CEO


Cem Saral is to assume his new role on September 1, succeeding Karl Beeson.

Cockett Marine Oil has announced the appointment of Cem Saral to the role of Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO). He is due to assume the role on September 1, 2016, succeeding Karl Beeson, who will step down after 8 years as CEO of the group.

Saral joined Cockett Marine Oil on March 1, 2015, having spent three years working in the fuel oil trading team at Vitol, a 50 percent shareholder of Cockett Marine Oil. He has over 20 years' experience in the marine fuels supply chain and has held a number of positions in Europe, the Middle East, the US and the Far East.

Prior to joining Vitol, Saral was General Manager at Bakri Trading Co (Asia) Pte Ltd in Singapore between July 2010 and April 2012. He was also employed at Chemoil for 7 years, working as Director Sales & Marketing Asia Pacific for Marine Fuels between 2004 and 2007, and Trading Manager between 2007 and 2010.

Steve Brann and Murray Paul Grindrod, representing the group shareholders said: "We thank Karl for his outstanding contribution to the group and the profitable growth achieved during his tenure. Saral remarked: "I am looking forward to building on Karl's hard work and leading the group through this next exciting phase in its development."
