The Bunker Index (BIX) - the daily average worldwide bunker price quoted in US$ per metric tonne - fell to its lowest end-of-week level of the year so far on August 21, according to Bunker Index price data.

The global price declined by $16.85, or 3.7 percent, to $439.87 per tonne on August 21 compared with $456.72 per tonne on August 14.

It is the tenth end-of-week decrease in a row and the thirteenth in the last fourteen weeks.

In percentage terms, the 3.7 percent drop is the biggest of the year so far. In U.S. dollar terms, the $16.85 fall is the most significant in six weeks - since the $17.61 decline recorded in week 28.
