CEPSA ups storage capacity at Algeciras

Supplier expands bunker storage capacity to over 300,000 cubic metres at Algeciras.

CEPSA Marine Fuels, S.A. (CMF) has strengthened its presence at the port of Algericas by enlarging its bunker storage capacity.

The new CEPSA terminal is located directly in front of anchorage areas C and D at ‘Isla Verde’, and forms part of the hub that includes the TTI terminal (Total Terminal International Algeciras S.A.U.) and the existing facilities of Compañía Logística de Hidrocarburos(CLH).

With this expansion CMF has increased its total bunker storage capacity to 310,000 cubic metres (cbm) at the port. The new facilities include two lines to load barges and one to discharge cargoes, which can be also used to load barges when unoccupied.

Barges can be loaded simultaneously at up to 700 cbm per hour for fuel oils and 250 cbm per hour for marine gasoil. The company already has four barges operating at the port. Supplies by truck are also available through completely automated loading points.

"CMF boasts a leading position in the ports of Algeciras, Ceuta and Gibraltar. This success is due to the constant quality and reliability of the products that come out directly from CEPSA’s refinery in San Roque (Algeciras Bay), and the best practices of our experienced people. This refinery distills 12 million tonnes per year and already holds bunker storage of 220,000 cbm," CEPSA said in a statement.

"With this increase in storage and barge loading positions, CMF will strengthen its service in the Strait of Gibraltar," CEPSA added.
