Fourth Gazpromneft Ocean lubricant gets WinGD approval

Gazpromneft Ocean CCL 100 HSF is latest in new product line to get green light from WinGD.

Gazpromneft-Lubricants, the lubricants business of Gazprom Neft, has announced that it has received official approval from Winterthur Gas & Diesel (WinGD) for the use of its Gazpromneft Ocean CCL 100 HSF marine lubricants with the manufacturer's engines.

Gazpromneft Ocean CCL 100 HSF is a cylinder oil for two-stroke engines operating on fuels with a high sulphur content.

The latest development means that there are now four items that have been approved by WinGD: Gazpromneft Ocean CSO 7, Gazpromneft Ocean CCL 17 ULSF, Gazpromneft Ocean CCL 70 and Gazpromneft Ocean CCL 100 HSF.

All of the aforementioned products are designed for the lubrication of two-stroke, low-speed engines operating on fuels with varying sulphur content.

Gazpromneft-Lubricants noted that the approval means that Gazpromneft Ocean lubricants can now be used with a "wide range of marine engines manufactured by WinGD, Wartsila and Sulzer".

The company added that its lubricating oil "satisfactorily completed" a 4,000-hour validation test on board the vessel Hong Kong Spirit, which was fitted with a Wartsila 7RT-flex82T engine.

Commenting on the WinGD approval, Roman Miroshnichenko, Branch Director, Marine Lubricants, at Gazpromneft-Lubricants, said: "The marine engine is an extremely complicated mechanism that requires the high quality of fuels and lubricants. We produce Gazpromneft Ocean marine oils by the unique formulation based on advanced high-tech base oils and additives. Our products are developed involving the leading manufacturers of marine engines, and the trust of Winterthur Gas&Diesel is another proof of the reliability and quality of our lubricants."

Launched in November, the Gazpromneft Ocean brand of products is being produced at the Russian firm's plants in Omsk and Moscow. The product portfolio includes 15 lube oils for engines operating on various fuels and installed on a range of vessels.

According to Gazpromneft-Lubricants, the Omsk facility has Russia's most advanced process line for the mixing, filling and the packaging of lubricants, with a total annual mixing-and-packaging capacity of 300,000 tonnes.
