Gazpromneft Ocean marine lubricant brand launched


Gazpromneft-Lubricants aims to expand production geography and product storage next year.



Gazpromneft-Lubricants, the lubricants business of Gazprom Neft, has launched the production of marine lubes under its own Gazpromneft Ocean brand. The products are being made at the company's plants in Omsk and Moscow.

The product portfolio includes 15 lube oils for engines operating on various fuels and installed on a range of vessels.

Commenting on the news, Alexander Trukhan, CEO of Gazpromneft-Lubricants, remarked: "The launch of our own marine lubricants brand is an important step for the development of the company's global operations. We encounter significant business challenges requiring qualified approach and technological solutions. We intend to use all the advantages of the expertise that we have gained in the marine lubricants market, and to scale the experience of building the supply chain obtained in foreign markets over the past five years in order to become a significant player in the global industry".

The long-term strategy of Gazprom Neft's marine lubricants business is to further develop production of marine lubricants and the firm's international sales network.

In 2018, the company says it intends to expand both production geography and product storage in order for Gazpromneft Ocean to be able to supply marine lubricants at the largest foreign ports.

Established in November 2007, Gazpromneft-Lubricants has six production sites - in Russia, Italy and Serbia. The total production volume is more than 500,000 tons of oils, greases and technical fluids per year.

According to Gazpromneft-Lubricants, the Omsk facility has Russia's most advanced process line for the mixing, filling and the packaging of lubricants with a total annual mixing-and-packaging capacity of 300,000 tons.

Gazpromneft-Lubricants says it supplies marine lubricants to Sovcomflot, Rosmorport, Rosnefteflot, Norilsk Nickel and other Russian and foreign shipowners.

Through the company's integration into Chevron's global supply chain, Gazpromneft-Lubricants' products are available in more than 800 ports worldwide.

Gazpromneft-Lubricants claims to currently control 15 percent of the Russian lubricant market; it also operates in the CIS and the Baltic, Europe, Central and Southeast Asia, Africa and South America. The company's products are available in 72 countries worldwide.
