Total acquires US lube manufacturer


Oil major looks to expand its presence in the US lubricants market.



Total Lubricants North America has announced that it has acquired lubricant manufacturer and marketer Lubricants USA LP for an undisclosed amount, Business Information Group reports.

Texas-based Lubricants USA LP is the exclusive manufacturer of FINA-branded lubricants in the United States. The company offers a full line of lubricant products, including marine diesel engine oils and greases, industrial oils, heavy-duty diesel engine oils, transmission fluids, motor oils and various other oils and greases.

According to market sources, current Lubricants USA president and CEO, Chris Haire will head up the new operation.

Commenting on the acquisition, Olivier Goutal, Total Lubricants North American vice-president said “[The] acquisition of Lubricants USA provides a springboard for Total to significantly expand its presence within the US lubricants and greases industry.”

“We look forward to continued growth with these distributors, as well as enlisting prospective distributors in new market geographies.”

Chris Haire commented: “We’ve offered high quality, specialized lubricants to our customer base for the last eight years and we know Total to be an excellent company with whom to do business and we’re excited by the prospects of merging our organization with Total’s.”

Linden-based Total Lubricants USA, Inc. is responsible for the sale of marine lubricants in a number of countries in the Americas including Canada, Netherlands Antilles, Panama, Peru, Puerto Rico and the United States, Uruguay and Venezuela.

Key delivery locations covered include Montreal, Willemstad, Panama Canal, Callao, San Juan, Houston, Los Angeles, New Orleans, New York, Philadelphia, Montevideo and Maracaibo.
