Chemoil's Singapore MD resigns

New director of Asia and Middle East operations is announced.

Leading bunker supplier Chemoil Energy has annnounced that the head of its Singapore operations, Karan Chabria has resigned with immediate effect.

Chabria will be replaced by Sanjay Anand, the Managing Director of Chemoil Logistics, who will also be responsible for the the company's Asia and Middle East operations, Chemoil said in a statement.

Anand is currently in charge of the shipping terminal and storage interests of the Chemoil Group, and will continue to head its logistics intiatives when he takes up his new post.

The departure of Chabria is not expected to have an impact on the company's business activities in other Asian countries as he was only responsilble for trading operations in Singapore.

As part of the company's expansion plans in Asia, Chemoil recently announced its intentions to supply marine fuels in India when it signed an agreement in September with India's Adani Group to establish the joint venture company Chemoil-Adani Private Limited, which is set to begin supplying marine fuel at Mundra port.

Commenting at the time, Chemoil Chairman Clyde Michael Bandy said: “Mundra is well-situated for supplying the rising number of vessels of all types that call in the Gulf of Kutch. This joint venture creates additional synergies with Chemoil’s existing businesses in Fujairah and Singapore."

Anand had also said in an interview that Chemoil aimed to capture almost half the bunker market in India's Gulf of Kutch over the next five years.
