The Bunker Index (BIX) - the daily average global bunker price quoted in US$ per metric tonne - rose by $11.14 per tonne, or 2.1 percent, during the 7-day period between May 1 and May 8, according to Bunker Index price data.

The end-of-week global price was $545.71 per tonne on May 8 compared to $534.57 per tonne on May 1. It is the fourth weekly increase in a row and the most significant since April 17.
