Global bunker average up slightly in April


Bunker Index (BIX) average rose for only the second time since June 2014.

The Bunker Index (BIX) global monthly average rose for only the second time in ten months in April, according to Bunker Index price data.

The worldwide bunker average increased by just $0.31, or 0.06 percent, to $513.06 per tonne last month, up from $512.75 per tonne in March.

The 0.06 percent rise is the least significant since May 2014, when the worldwide average price increased by $0.09 to $789.05 per tonne.

In comparison with previous years, the April 2015 average is $275.90, or 35.0 percent lower than the $788.96 per tonne average price recorded in April 2014, and $278.19, or 35.2 percent below the $791.25 per tonne figure seen in April 2013.
