WTI vs BIX price comparison


Analysis of WTI crude vs the BIX global bunker price during the month of April.



The average monthly WTI crude price rose a more significant rate than the global bunker average during the month of April, according to Bunker Index (BIX) and New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) price data.

The WTI settlement average increased by $6.8 per barrel, or 14.2 percent, to $54.69 per barrel in April. During the same period, the BIX global bunker average was up by just $0.31 per tonne, or 0.06 percent, to $513.06 per tonne.

Over the last 12 months - between April 2014 and April 2015 - the WTI monthly average has fallen by $47.33 per barrel, or 46.39 percent, from $102.02 to $54.69 per barrel, whilst the BIX monthly global average has declined by $275.90 per tonne, or 34.97 percent, from $788.96 to $513.06 per tonne.
