Global bunker average up 3.8% in January


First monthly average of 2012 surpasses last year's high, recorded in April.

The average monthly Bunker Index (BIX) price increased by $30.85 per tonne, or 3.8 percent, in January compared to the previous month, according to Bunker Index price data.

The BIX global monthly average rose to $849.03 per tonne last month, up from $818.18 per tonne in December - surpassing last year's high of $846.65, recorded in April.
