Bunker sales of 380-centistoke (cst) reached a new record of 31,452,100 tonnes in 2010, according to data released by the
Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA)
Volumes of 380-centistoke - Singapore's largest-selling bunker grade - dipped slightly in December 2010 to 2,639,000 tonnes from 2,646,400 tonnes in November to surpass the 31 million tonne mark for the first time in the port's history. The figure is 3,026,600 tonnes, or 10.6 percent, higher than the 28,425,500 tonnes achieved in 2009.
Total monthly bunker sales rose by 182,000 tonnes, or 5.5 percent, to 3,493,000 tonnes in December as annual sales of 40,873,400 tonnes were achieved in 2010 - up 4,486,800 tonnes, or 12.3 percent, on the previous year's figure of 36,386,600 tonnes.
Sales volumes of 500-cst rose significantly last month by 255,300 tonnes, or 76.9 percent, to 587,000 tonnes from 331,800 tonnes in November. The new 500-cst monthly record surpasses the previous best of 505,400 tonnes achieved in April 2010.
In total, 5,287,500 tonnes of 500-cst were sold last year, up 1,598,800 tonnes, or 43.3 percent, on the 2009 figure of 3,689,700 tonnes.
