The International Bunker Industry Association (IBIA) has updated its biofuels training module for 2026, incorporating recent regulatory changes, market developments and operational insights.

The online course is designed to support professionals in the marine fuels sector as the industry transitions towards lower-carbon energy sources. It provides an overview of both liquid and gaseous biofuels, production methods, operational use and emissions considerations.

According to IBIA, the refreshed module is suitable for both newcomers and experienced professionals looking to update their understanding of biofuels within the current regulatory and commercial landscape.

The training consists of four short, self-paced presentations that address the role of biofuels in the energy transition, the operational aspects of liquid and gaseous fuels, and emissions performance and compliance challenges.

The updated content is designed to reflect evolving sustainability frameworks and lifecycle emissions considerations, offering a practical introduction to the application of biofuels in maritime operations.
