Global Ethanol Association has announced that Growth Energy has joined its membership, extending the organisation’s footprint into the US renewable fuels sector.

Growth Energy represents nearly 100 biorefineries, as well as more than 120 associate companies and coalition partners across the biofuels value chain. The association said its producer members collectively account for more than half of total U.S. ethanol output.

The group focuses on promoting renewable fuels, expanding domestic and international markets, and advocating for clean energy policies in the US.

The Global Ethanol Association said Growth Energy’s scale, policy engagement and work to position ethanol as a decarbonisation tool align closely with its global objectives. It added that the partnership will support greater international collaboration, innovation and the rollout of sustainable fuel solutions.

The membership announcement was made on 4 February, as interest in ethanol and other low-carbon fuels continues to grow as part of wider energy transition strategies across transport sectors, including shipping.
