The newly built LNG-powered Fure Vinga departed from the Chinese port of Yangzhou on Thursday, with the vessel scheduled to arrive in Singapore later this month, on April 14.

The 150-metre-long ship is the first of six tankers ordered by members of the Gothia Tanker Alliance, with Furetank Rederi ordering three, Alvtank two and Thun Tankers one.

Earlier today, Furetank said in a short social media post: "Welcome Fure Vinga to our fleet!", whilst Gothia Tanker Alliance tweeted yesterday: "We welcome Fure Vinga to our alliance! We wish the ship and her crew fair winds and good fortune!"

Yangzhou-based Avic Dingheng Shipbuilding is the company responsible for building the vessels.

The ships are being constructed according to a design developed by FKAB together with Furetank.

Four of the six vessels were contracted in November 2015; this was followed by an order for two additional ships in October 2016.

Bunker Index previously reported that Wartsila had been awarded a contract for the aforementioned four newbuilds. The scope of Wartsila's supply to the project includes a 9-cylinder Wartsila 34DF dual-fuel main engine, two Wartsila Auxpac 20 auxiliary engines, the gas valve unit, a controllable pitch propeller (CPP) compliant with Ice Class 1A, a Wartsila Energopac rudder system, and a Wartsila selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system for the auxiliary engines.
