Enagas kicks off travelling LNG exhibition in Madrid

Gas firm to travel across Spain to promote LNG as a transport fuel.

Spain's Enagas launched a travelling exhibition on Wednesday to promote the use of liquefied natural gas (LNG).

The exhibition, which forms part of the CORE LNGas Hive project, commenced at Enagas's headquarters in Madrid.

An IVECO LNG truck, which was provided free of charge to Enagas as part of an agreement between both companies, is scheduled to travel across Spain over the next six months to explain how LNG is used as a transport fuel, and, in particular, as a fuel for the maritime industry.

Explaining how the initiative was put together, Enagas said: "For the design of this activity, a social perception study was carried out to determine what citizens, experts of the sector and institutions think about LNG as an alternative fuel in order to identify the existing barriers for its inclusion in transport as well as the target audience to which awareness-raising efforts should be directed."

As previously mentioned, Enagas is project coordinator of the Core LNGas Hive initiative, whose objective is to develop an LNG logistics network to promote the use of the gas as a fuel for transport, especially in the marine sector. The project is co-financed by the European Commission and comprises more than 40 partners in Spain and Portugal.
