Bunkers International opens New York office


Experienced bunker professional to oversee the new trading operation.



Bunkers International Corporation has opened a new bunker fuel trading office in the New York Metro Area.

Darrell Cardoza, president of Island Marine Oil Brokers, Inc. will join Bunkers International as a senior trader with responsibility for overseeing the new operation.

The new office will provide additional support for the companys’ customers, ship owners, and brokers that currently use Bunkers Internationals’ trading and physical supply services and operations.

In a company statement, Bunkers International said "The products and services provided to customers by Island Marine Oil Brokers, Inc. will be offered by Bunkers International immediately and operations will continue without interruption. "

Mr. Cardoza has extensive experience in the bunkering market through his leadership role at Marine Oil Brokers, Inc., which has been operating for 13 years.

Commenting on the new appointment, John Canal President of Bunkers International said “When we combine the financial strength and strong operations support of Bunkers International with the excellent customer service and integrity that Darrell provided at Island Marine Oil Brokers, Inc., our customers and partners will benefit.”

Bunkers International has been expanding operations globally since 2000, creating new operations in Colombia, the United Kingdom, Singapore, Turkey, South Africa, and the latest in New York. The company says that it has significantly increased its trading division, which in turn has helped drive a six-fold increase in revenue in the past four years.

"With strong capitalization, excellent global credit lines, and a global customer base of thousands of ship operators, Bunkers International is well positioned to serve the global bunker market," the company said in a statement.

Speaking about his new role, Mr. Cardoza said “This represents a logical step for Island Marine Oil Brokers.”

“Combining our resources with Bunkers International will enable us to do even more for our customers, we are thrilled to join the Bunkers International team”.
