BMS United Bunkers announces senior trader promotions

Company promotes Eleni Karlaftis and George Makrakis to the role of Senior Bunker Trader.

Marine fuel trading firm BMS United Bunkers has confirmed the promotion of Eleni Karlaftis and George Makrakis to the position of Senior Bunker Trader.

In an emailed statement, the company explained: "Eleni joined our company 15 years ago, while George came aboard 10 years ago as bunker traders in our Piraeus office."

"Eleni's and George's performance has always been influential for BMS United Bunkers. We are sure that will both bring a fruitful experience to their new roles and prove us right for our decision to grant them the position of Senior Bunker Trader."

BMS Bunkers and Asian bunker trading specialist United Bunkering and Trading (UBT) merged their respective businesses to form BMS United Bunkers in June 2014.

As a merged firm, BMS United Bunkers Group now combines the offices of BMS Bunkers in Greece and Argentina with the offices of United Bunkering and Trading located in Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Indonesia and Taiwan.

BMS United Bunkers says it supplied 5.5 million tonnes of bunker fuel to customers in 2014.

"Since 1990, our people proudly provide our partners with exclusive global maritime oil solutions. During this period we have grown to become one of the world's largest bunker and lubricant trading groups. Our highly skilled team of more than 40 traders is located among our offices at Piraeus, Buenos Aires, Limassol, Singapore, Hong Kong, Dalian and Jakarta.

"Our aim is to be one of the top 5 bunker and lubricant trading companies in the world by 2020. To carry on our steady and controlled growth we intend to add significantly more focus on two critical areas: talent development and geographical expansion. It goes without saying that success in the latter depends on success in the former," the company added.
