Chemoil launches bunker tanker

Vessel to begin carrying out deliveries of marine fuel from next week.

Chemoil Europe BV has revealed that it has launched a bunker delivery vessel, which will be used to supply marine fuel in the United Kingdom and Northwest Europe.

The 2005-built bunker tanker Yigit A1 began carrying out cargo deliveries around two weeks ago and is due to start bunkering operations from next week.

Barge fleet in Northwest Europe

Chemoil has a 49 percent share ownership in Burando Holding B.V., the parent company of FTS Hofftrans, one of the ARA region’s leading carriers of marine fuel products.

According to its website, Hofftrans has 10 vessels that it currently owns - Boris, Ariane, Eloise, Isabella, Laurentien, Maxima, Conquest, Amalia, Marilene and Leonore. It also charters 14 other vessels.

Chemoil was one of the first suppliers to dedicate barges to the exclusive delivery of LSFO in the ARA region. In 2009, Chemoil strengthened its barge fleet in Northwest Europe with the introduction of the Laurentien - a barge dedicated to the supply of low sulfur fuel oil in Rotterdam.

The vessel is said to have a range of advanced capabilities that are suited to LSFO deliveries including fast pumping capabilities of 500 to 600 metric tonnes per hour to ensure quick customer turnaround times. It is also double-hulled and double-bottomed to meet MARPOL Annex I safety standards.
