New chemical used in fuel oil clean up

Plant-based product is said to be completely biodegradable.

Fog Free Technologies (FFT), a South Carolina-based company, says it has pick-locked nature's own compounds to produce a plant-based, toxin-free solution to organically clean up oil spills worldwide.

FFT-Solution, an approved Environmental Protection Agency(EPA)-registered chemical, is now listed on the United States National Contingency Plan list for approved dispersants.

The new oil dispersant was recently used to assist in the oil spill remediation at a mid-Atlantic naval facility. EnviroSmart was tasked with responding to a release of number 6 fuel oil that spread on the sidewalls of a storage tank, the surrounding area, and some of the storm drains located in the immediate area.

Michael Costa, REM at EnviroSmart, said: "FFT-SolutionTM was used to clean the exterior of the storage tank, storm pipe drains and headwalls, as well as equipment and decontamination activities. It was a very easy and effective application that we would recommend using for other similar oil spill response actions. We believe FFT-Solution saved our client money and improved our response time with apparent removal of the oil."

FFT-Solution effectively transforms crude oil into fine particles to promote biodegradation of oil in the ocean and on the shore. FFT Vice-President Doc Knight said: "This 100 percent organic solution has been tested using U. S. Environmental Protection Agency standards, and has been approved by the EPA to be listed on the National Contingency Plan (NCP) list as an oil dispersant."

"We are pleased that EnviroSmart selected FFT-Solution as one of their tools to clean up this spill," added Knight.

FFT's patented product formulas serve a variety of applications from crude/fuel oil remediation, wastewater utility cleaners of fat, oil, grease and odor, commercial and household cleaning products and more.

FFT's product formulas are said to be 100 percent toxin free and completely biodegradable.
