SEAaT welcomes newest member

Oceanox becomes member of SEAaT - the association dedicated to shipping emissions abatement and trading.

SEAaT (Shipping Emissions Abatement and Trading), the industry association dedicated to shipping emissions abatement and trading, announced today that Oceanox is the latest company to join its roster of members and supporters.

Oceanox is focused on developing post-combustion exhaust gas cleaning for ships, enabling vessels to consume lower cost fuel while ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.

"Upcoming regulation of emissions and the ongoing search for new ways to boost profitability are driving a raft of new innovations in efficiency technologies. Oceanox will therefore play a key role at SEAaT, in guiding discussions of technology at a time when ship owners and operators are under pressure to reduce costs," SEAaT said in a statement.

John Aitken, Secretary General, SEAaT, commented: “Since our inception, SEAaT has been at the forefront of the debate on sulphur and other emissions, so we are pleased to welcome Oceanox as a company developing new emissions abatement technologies. There are significant potential commercial benefits for proactive ship owners who invest in technology to aid emissions reduction.”

David Ring, chairman and co-founder of Oceanox, said: “With the deadline for sulphur emissions only three years away, we look forward to supporting the industry and SEAaT’s members in embracing abatement technology. We hope to bring our knowledge and practical experience to group discussions on this issue, which continues to gain momentum across the industry.”

SEAaT will be hosting its 2011 'Innovation meets regulation' conference on 17 November 2011 at the London headquarters of Norton Rose.
