Last call for IBIA board nominations

Nominations for election to the board of directors close in 10 days' time.

The International Bunker Industry Association (IBIA) has today issued a 'final reminder' to members that nominations for election to its board of directors close on Friday, 21st October 2011, 10 days from now.

This year there will be three vacancies on the board with the terms of office running for three years from 1st April 2012.

Earlier this year, Eugenia Benevides of Organización Terpel S.A. and Oak International Ltd. General Manager Paul Dyke were elected - and John Stirling of DNV Petroleum Services was re-elected - to the board with effect from 1st April, 2011. They will each serve for a period of three years.

The retiring members of the board were former IBIA Chairman and founder of Bunker Claims International, Chris Fisher, and Cockett Group’s Technical Director, Angus Ogilvie, who will be retiring from his post at the end of the year.

Commenting on its policy regarding the election of board members, IBIA said that it is intended that the 11 elected members of the board should be as geographically and industry-sector representative as possible.

At present the split (not counting those whose term is expiring) is:

Geography:
Americas 2
Europe 4
Asia Pacific 2

Sector:
Suppliers 5
Users and Buyers 1
Service Providers 3

"It follows from the above that the Board Development Committee will look particularly favourably on nominations from (a) the Americas and Asia Pacific and (b) users and buyers; however, applications from all eligible candidates are welcomed," IBIA said.

Candidates for election to the board must:

* Consent to stand for election.

* Be paid up members of the association or a paid up corporate member's nominated representative.

* Be proposed and seconded by paid up members of the association or two paid up corporate members' nominated representatives.

* Ensure that a nomination form is duly and properly completed and returned to the secretariat before the closing date for nominations.

* Complete and return the nomination form, which can be downloaded by clicking on the link below:
