IBIA appoints acting chief executive

Board member Trevor Harrison to act as chief executive on a part-time basis.

The International Bunker Industry Association (IBIA) has today announced that it has appointed Trevor Harrison as acting chief executive.

In a message to members, IBIA said the appointment would be on a part-time basis pending the making of a full time appointment.

Commenting on the news, IBIA chairman Bob Lintott said: "Trevor is an IBIA Main Board member, a barrister of more than 30 years' standing and author of the just published book, Legal Issues in Bunkering. In his capacity as an IBIA Board Member and before that as an ordinary member,Trevor has worked closely with the Secretariat on many different matters over the past few years so, with his unequalled knowledge of IBIA's global objectives and internal functions, he is a natural short-term fit for the role of CE and we are very grateful for his support and assistance at this time.

"Having been able to put these arrangements in place so speedily leaves me confident that it is very much business as usual at IBIA and I, the Board and the Secretariat in the UK and in Singapore look forward to continuing to meet your needs as members. In particular, I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at our Convention in Barcelona, starting on 2nd November and at our Golf and Gala Dinner in Singapore on 2nd September."

Harrison replaces former chief executive Ian Adams, who resigned from IBIA towards the end of last month in order to look after his family whilst his wife recovers from medical treatment.
