UBT appoints new Managing Director


New appointment will manage offices in Hong Kong and Singapore.



United Bunkering & Trading (UBT) has announced the appointment of a new Managing Director for its offices in Singapore and Hong Kong.

Mr Colin Wong will begin his new role as Director of United Bunkering & Trading (HK) Ltd., Hong Kong and United Bunkering and Trading (Asia) Pte. Ltd., Singapore as of October 1st 2008.

Mr Wong has a BSc in Management from the London School of Economics and has successfully completed the Maersk International Shipping Education (M.I.S.E.) programme. The company says he has also "proven his skills both as a trader and recently as manager with UBT".

Speaking about his appointment, Wong said “I am very pleased to have been given the opportunity to make UBT the leading bunker service provider in Asia. As of today we have a strong crew of 20 people, but we have plans for more people and new areas of activity in providing the best service to bunker buyers in the area.”

Keld R. Demant, a member of the board of directors commented: “We have not only found a very skilled person for the job, but also someone who we know has the full support of the crew. The last year Colin has build up UBT Hong Kong and the feed back from both customers, suppliers and employees left us with no doubt, when we were in need of a new Managing Director. We feel very confident that Colin will lead UBT into new heights”.
