Greek yacht race is due to commence on May 29.

BMS United Bunkers has confirmed that it has agreed to become the main sponsor of the 48th Andros International Yacht Race, which is due to commence tomorrow (May 29).

The Andros International Yacht Race, which began in 1967, is one of the most historic yacht races in Greece, organised by the Andros Nautical Club. The event itself was inspired by John B. Goulandris and it attracts the elite of Greek sailing.

On May 29, yachts will start racing from Vouliagmeni Bay to the island of Andros, a distance of approximately 80 nautical miles. The finish line of the first leg of the race is in Chora, Andros.

In an emailed statement, the marine fuels specialist said: "The unique identity of the International Offshore Regatta of Andros with its large and loyal support base throughout the Greek sailing enthusiasts, provides an excellent fit for BMS United Bunkers. The BMS United Bunkers Group has a tradition in supporting sailing, being for several years the exclusive sponsor of the European Champion and Olympic Athlete Giannis Mitakis. Finally, the 48th Andros International Yacht Race provides a powerful platform for BMS United Bunkers to engage with the Greek shipping industry."
