Lowest monthly global bunker average since February 2010


Global bunker average falls for the sixth consecutive month.



The Bunker Index (BIX) global monthly average fell to its lowest level since February 2010 during the month of December, according to Bunker Index price data.

The worldwide bunker average plummeted $89.61, or 13.79 percent, to $560.15 per tonne last month, down from $649.76 per tonne in November. It is the most significant monthly decline since Bunker Index started publishing global average indices in April 2009.

Over the last six months, the global average has fallen $233.66, or 29.4 percent, from $793.81 to $560.15 per tonne.

In comparison with previous years, the December 2014 average is $233.42 lower than the $793.57 per tonne average price recorded in December 2013 and $243.89 below the $804.04 per tonne figure seen in December 2012.
