The 380 centistoke (cSt) average at Europe's leading bunker port fell to its lowest level since May 2009 during the month of December, according to Bunker Index price data.

The Rotterdam 380 cSt average declined by $99, or 23.3 percent, to $326 per tonne this month, down from $425 per tonne in November.

The $99 price decrease is the most significant since November 2008, when the 380 cSt average nosedived $163, or 42.4 percent, to $221 per tonne.

In comparison with the corresponding month in 2013, the December 2014 average is $257 lower. It is $253 below the $579 per tonne price recorded in December 2012.
