Blue Energy Partners has announced the appointment of Nicolaj Kofoed as its group treasurer.

The marine fuel specialist noted that Kofoed brings experience in treasury, liquidity management and financing to the role, and that his appointment is intended to strengthen its treasury activities, banking relationships and funding structure as its international trading business continues to grow.

Kofoed previously held treasurer roles at Hempel, H. Lundbeck, Demant, Flying Tiger Corporation and Aeven, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Commenting on his appointment, Kofoed said: "It's not every day you get to shape treasury in a company that has grown as fast as Blue Energy Partners in just four years. I'm looking forward to building a treasury function that supports the ambitions ahead, with strong banking relationships, solid funding and robust liquidity management."

Founded in in 2022 by Bijan Shahbaz and Lamin Bara, Oslo-based Blue Energy Partners is a seller of marine fuels that also recently began to operate its own bunker barges in West Africa. The firm also supplies ISCC-certified biofuels, runs an environmental desk and trades carbon credits under the EU, UK and Swiss emissions trading schemes (ETS).
