WTI vs BIX price comparison


Analysis of WTI crude vs the BIX global bunker price.

The average monthly WTI crude price fell at a slightly higher rate than the global bunker average during the month of September, according to Bunker Index (BIX) and New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) price data.

The WTI settlement average decreased by $2.32 per barrel, or 2.43 percent, to $93.13 per barrel in September. During the same period, the BIX global bunker average was down by $15.61 per tonne, or 2.03 percent, to $753.82 per tonne.

Since September 2013, the WTI monthly average has fallen by $13.11 per barrel, or 12.34 percent, from $106.24 to $93.13 per barrel, whilst the BIX monthly global average has declined by $45.43 per tonne, or 5.68 percent, from $799.25 to $753.82 per tonne.
