BIX average falls 3.3 percent in February


Average monthly global bunker price decreases by $18.82 per tonne in February.

The average monthly Bunker Index(BIX) price fell by 3.3 percent during the month of February compared to the previous month, according to latest Bunker Index price data.

The BIX decreased by $18.82 to $549.23 per tonne in February, down from $568.05 per tonne the previous month.

The price drop represents the largest average monthly decrease since the Bunker Index (BIX) was launched in March 2009.

During this period, the average monthly global bunker price has only previously fallen in July 2009 (-0.5 percent) and in December 2009 (-1.2 percent).
