Throughput rise at Petersburg Oil Terminal


Year-on-year throughput of oil products increases in October 2009.

Russia’s Petersburg Oil Terminal has recorded a rise in throughput of 32,000 tonnes, or 3 percent, year-on-year according to data released for October 2009.

Last month the terminal handled 1.1 mln tons of oil products compared to 1,068,000 tonnes during the same period last year. The figure includes 915,000 tonnes of dark oil products.

During the first ten months of 2009, the terminal recorded a 400,000-tonne, or 4.1 percent, increase in oil products handled year-on-year. In total, 10.2 million tonnes of oil products were transshipped, including 7.4 million tonnes of dark oil products.

The facility operates the largest Russian terminal for oil products in the Baltic Sea region. It provides the services of transshipment and storage of oil products for export, as well as bunkering.

In addition, the company conducts quality analysis of oil products, and accepts and treats slops discharged from vessels calling at the Port of St. Petersburg.

Last year, the terminal transshipped 11.8 million tonnes of oil products. The figure was 300,000 tonnes higher than in 2007 and included 8.4 million tonnes of dirty oil products.
