Flex Commodities FZCO has posted a job advertisement seeking an operator to join its trading operations team, with the position possibly based in either the UAE or Greece.
The role, described as covering “physical & back-to-back trading”, would see the successful candidate responsible for the end-to-end operational execution of physical and back-to-back commodity trades, working closely with traders, finance, trade finance, accounts, counterparties, suppliers, customers, inspectors, and logistics or service providers.
The new hire would manage the complete operational lifecycle of physical and back-to-back trades, from contract execution through to delivery and final settlement. They would also be tasked with coordinating physical movements of cargo — covering shipment and delivery schedules, nominations, documentation, and inspections — as well as handling back-to-back transactions to ensure alignment between purchase and sale contracts.
Other duties include reviewing trade contracts to confirm that operational execution aligns with agreed Incoterms, laycan or delivery windows, and commercial requirements, as well as liaising with suppliers, customers, terminals, agents, inspectors, surveyors, and transporters. The role would also involve preparing and maintaining trade and shipping documentation, including invoices, bunker delivery notes (BDNs), certificates, and bills of lading.
Flex Commodities notes that the operator would be expected to identify discrepancies between purchase and sale terms and escalate potential operational, financial, or contractual risks before they affect a transaction. Maintaining accurate trade records within the company’s ERP or document management systems and supporting reconciliation of completed trades are also listed among the responsibilities.
Candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, logistics, international trade, or a related discipline, along with three to five years of relevant bunker trading or commodity trading operations experience — preferably spanning both physical and back-to-back transactions. The posting also calls for a working knowledge of Incoterms and international trade documentation, along with experience coordinating with traders, accounts, and control teams.
Experience within oil, petroleum products, marine fuels, energy, or other physical commodities is described as “highly preferred”, with the company looking for a candidate who is “hands-on, commercially aware and able to take ownership of transactions rather than simply coordinating individual operational tasks”.
