One-day course covers MFM technology, regulatory frameworks and practical bunkering experience.

The International Bunker Industry Association (IBIA) is set to host a one-day training course on mass flow meters (MFM) in Rotterdam on 4 November, bringing together industry stakeholders to examine the technology, regulatory requirements and practical experience gathered since MFM implementation began in the ports of Rotterdam and Antwerp.

The course, titled 'MFM in Bunkering: Technology, Compliance & Practice', comes approximately nine months into the MFM implementation process in those ports — a period that, IBIA says, has allowed the industry to accumulate practical, hands-on experience with the technology.

IBIA has delivered a number of MFM training sessions to industry participants since discussions on implementing the metering systems in Rotterdam and Antwerp first began. The association says the timing of this latest course is intended to capitalise on the operational experience now available from the early months of implementation.

Participants attending the Rotterdam course can expect to cover the technology underpinning Coriolis mass flow meters, the regulatory framework and industry requirements governing their use, and the technical and commercial dimensions of conducting bunker operations with MFM. The course will also include discussion of real-life case studies and lessons learned from the implementation period to date.

According to IBIA, the course is aimed at professionals across a range of functions, including bunker operations, trading, surveying and port administration.

The event will be held in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, and interested parties can register by clicking here.
