Glander International Bunkering opens Spain office


New Valencia-based business headed by Hernan Ortiz.

Marine fuel and lubricant trading firm Glander International Bunkering has opened a new office in Valencia, Spain, which the company says will be used as a base from which to serve clients in the Mediterranean and Spanish-speaking regions.

It is Glander International Bunkering's seventh office worldwide and third in Europe.

The new office is headed by managing director Hernan B. Ortiz, who has more than 28 years of industry experience and nine years at Glander.

Commenting on the news, Ortiz explained: "The opening of Glander International Bunkering Spain, SL, was the next obvious step in line with our company's solid growth. We are excited to be in Valencia, the largest port in Spain and the Mediterranean Sea, and the fifth largest in Europe. Our expertise in Spanish-speaking markets in South America as well as our proximity to Algeciras, Gibraltar and the North African bunkering markets gives our new Spain office a unique upper hand for providing superior service."

Carsten Ladekjaer, CEO of Glander International Bunkering Group, remarked: "During the past few years, we have seen an increasing consolidation which we expect to continue going forward. Furthermore, the shipping industry is facing a radical change in 2020 with the new Sulphur regulations worldwide from IMO.
