Bunker firm
Monjasa has announced the launch of a new global trainee programme in Panama, Singapore, Dubai and Denmark.
Named the
Monjasa Oil & Shipping Trainee (MOST) Programme, the two-year education combines hands-on experience with thorough industry knowledge.
MOST is designed to provide trainees with a structured series of rotations across the company's core trading business.
Longer periods will be spent at their home office with
two rotation periods in other Monjasa offices such as Singapore, Dubai, Denmark or Panama. This is designed to help improve their understanding of different business contexts and cultures.
Trainees will also be enrolled in a formal two-year education as part of the Danish Shipping Academy's
Commercial Shipping Programme.
Additionally, the
Monjasa Academy will provide trainees with internal Monjasa learning where they will be enrolled in a selection of
courses such as Trading, Bunker Knowledge, Price Assessments Methodology, Vessel-tracking and Sales Psychology.
MOST trainees will also be assigned a personal
mentor who will guide them through the entire two-year programme to help them continuously develop and learn.
Tracy Palm, Head of Human Resources, explained: "This new programme is designed to provide young candidates with a structured series of rotations across our core bunker trading business. So far, our grooming of trainees has been focused on activities at local offices. Now is the right moment to offer a more attractive educational package for the new generations pursuing global careers in oil and shipping."
Group COO,
Svend Molholt, remarked: "Being part of a survival-of-the-fittest industry, it is key for us to sharpen our competitiveness and adapt to the world around us. Adapting to new industry norms has already pushed for new digital compliance workflows and documented quality in our bunker operations. We are now investing in more thorough educational and cultural ballast aimed at the bunker traders of tomorrow."
Jacob Ullegaard, Executive Director at Danish Shipping, said: "The shipping industry gives access to a broad range of opportunities for those with a thirst for global challenges. Monjasa's MOST programme is a great entry point to this world of opportunity and I am happy that they have ambitions for their future trainees."
Applying for the MOST programme
The MOST programme is now recruiting bunker trader trainees globally in Panama, Dubai, Singapore and Denmark.

In 2018, Monjasa says it expects to take on between
five and
seven bunker trading trainees as part of the new programme. Interested parties can
apply here before the April deadline.
