Brent vs BIX price comparison


Analysis of Brent crude vs the BIX global bunker price.



The average global bunker price fell at a less significant rate than Brent crude during the month of October, according to Bunker Index (BIX) and Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) price data.

The Brent settlement average decreased by $10.52 per barrel, or 10.67 percent, to $88.05 per barrel in the month of October - the most significant drop since June 2012. During the same period, the BIX global bunker average was down $53.49 per tonne, or 7.10 percent, to $700.33 per tonne - also the biggest decline since June 2012.

Since October 2013, the Brent monthly average has fallen by $21.39 per barrel, or 19.54 percent, from $109.44 to $88.05 per barrel, whilst the BIX monthly global average has declined by $90.97 per tonne, or 11.50 percent, from $791.30 to $700.33 per tonne.
