Bunker price volatility rose to its highest level since August 2013 during the month of July, according to Bunker Index price data.

In a comparison of low-high differentials for the daily BIX global average, July recorded a low-high differential of $18.55 per tonne, up from $13.19 per tonne in June.

The lowest daily global bunker average last month was $778.02 per tonne, recorded on July 16, whilst the highest price was $796.57 per tonne on July 1.

Bunker price volatility has now remained below $20 for 11 consecutive months. It is the first time that this has occurred since Bunker Index began publishing global bunker price volatility data in April 2009.
