CMA CGM has announced the delivery of CMA CGM Gold — a 13,000-TEU container ship designed to run on conventional fuels as well as alternative fuels, including biomethanol and e-methanol.

The vessel is the latest addition to a series of 12 sister ships named after elements from the periodic table and ordered from HD Hyundai Samho’s shipyard in Yeongam, near Mokpo in south-western South Korea.

The series uses MAN B&W/Everllence ME-LGIM main-engine technology; it began with CMA CGM Iron — which was also the firm's first dual-fuel methanol vessel — and has since been followed by CMA CGM Osmium, CMA CGM Silver and CMA CGM Copper.

CMA CGM Gold is under the command of Captain Yurii Bohoslovskyi and has joined the ACSA1 service, which links East Asia with the west coast of South America, including a call at San Antonio in Chile.
