BP is recruiting a bunker trader to join its supply, trading and shipping division in Singapore, according to a job posting published by the firm.
The role — also described as a marine marketer — sits within BP's sales group and involves coordinating marine sales activities across the region, managing key accounts and handling day-to-day marketing and trading operations. According to the posting, the successful candidate will also be expected to pursue new business development, including new account openings and opportunities related to low-carbon fuels.
The position requires working alongside bunker and cargo traders to oversee pricing and trading of gas oil, high-sulphur fuel oil (HSFO) and very-low-sulphur fuel oil (VLSFO) on a daily basis for BP's Singapore business.
Among the stated responsibilities are managing exposure positions within the marine book, ensuring timely and accurate reporting of profit and loss from trading activities, and contributing a market view to inform near- and mid-term strategy for the Singapore marine business. The role also includes acting as cover for account managers and physical bunker traders within the team.
The posting notes that continuous improvement of marine team analytics, data and ways of working — both in Singapore and across BP's wider marine operations — forms part of the role's remit.
According to the listing, the position is hybrid, combining office and remote working, with up to 10% travel expected.
In 2025, BP was a top 10 bunker supplier and top 5 biofuel marine fuel supplier in Singapore, according to data released earlier this year by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).
